About Analogical Photos

Hi! Welcome to my studio! My name is Huan, and I am a portrait photographer based in Hong Kong.

I have a simple goal in creating these portraits: I create them for the person who is in the portrait. Not for social media, not for branding, not for other people, but for the person qua themselves.

It may sound a little confusing but let me explain.

We live in a society where various standards are constantly imposed upon us: we are told to be successful, interesting, presentable, to name a few. We spend most of our time conforming to these standards. But during the process, we have lost the connection with the most important person in our lives: the self.

Sometimes it helps to take a good look into the mirror to regain that connection. And sometimes it helps to take a self-portrait, a point of reference, a space for the core where other people's opinion doesn't matter.
